Answers to common questions, and how to reach us.
Buying
How do I contact a seller?
Open a listing and tap Message. The seller gets a notification and can reply in the app's Inbox.
How do I pay for birds?
Message the seller to agree on quantity, price, and pickup or shipping. The seller then sends a payment request in the chat, and you tap Pay to pay securely by card through Stripe. Buyers pay no extra fees. Paying in the app keeps a record of the sale; avoid paying strangers with methods you can't reverse.
How do I save a listing?
Open the listing and tap the heart icon. Your saved listings appear on your Profile.
What does the NPIP badge mean?
The National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) is a USDA program that certifies flocks as tested for certain diseases. Sellers with the badge have submitted certification that our team reviewed. Always confirm current certification with the seller, especially when buying across state lines.
Selling
How do I post a listing?
Tap the Sell tab, choose the listing type (chicks, laying hens, rooster, or hatching eggs), fill in breed, price, quantity, and location, add photos, and tap Post Listing. Posting requires a Hatchling or Homesteader plan.
How do I get paid?
Tap Connect Bank Account on your Profile and finish Stripe's secure setup. You need to do this before your listings can go live. Once you've agreed on a deal in chat, tap the $ button to send the buyer a payment request (minimum $10). ChickenTender keeps a 5% transaction fee (3% for Homesteader members), and the rest is paid out to your bank. Tap View Payouts on your Profile to see payouts or update bank details.
How do I edit, mark sold, or delete a listing?
Open the listing from your Profile. From there you can edit it, mark it sold, or tap the trash icon to delete it permanently.
How do I get the NPIP badge?
Go to Profile → NPIP Certification and upload your certificate. We review submissions and add the badge to your profile and listings once approved. The badge expires along with your certification.
Memberships & billing
What's the difference between plans?
Free lets you browse, message, save, and review. Hatchling ($2.99/mo) adds 10 listings per month and a Hatchling Seller badge, with a 5% fee on in-app sales. Homesteader ($4.99/mo) adds unlimited listings, a reduced 3% transaction fee, featured placement, auction support, and a Verified Seller badge.
How do I subscribe on iPhone?
On iOS, memberships are purchased on our website rather than inside the app. Once your membership is active, it appears in the app automatically when you sign in with the same account.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
Go to Profile → Subscription to upgrade, downgrade, or cancel. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep your plan's features until the end of the current billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Charges are generally non-refundable, but if something went wrong, email us and we'll take a look.
Account & safety
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and we'll email you a reset link.
Is my location shared?
Only the city and state on your listings are shown. The app may use your device's approximate location to show nearby listings; your exact location is never published.
How do I report or block someone?
On a listing, profile, or conversation, open the menu and choose Report or Block. Blocked users can't message you, and you can manage them under Profile → Blocked Users.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Delete Account and confirm with your password. This permanently removes your profile, listings, photos, messages, reviews, saved listings, and NPIP records. Cancel any active membership first so you aren't billed again.
Still stuck?
Email us and a real person will get back to you, usually within two business days.

Terms of Service
Effective October 21, 2026
These terms govern your use of the ChickenTender app and website. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy or sell on ChickenTender. You're responsible for your account, keeping your password secure, and the accuracy of the information you provide.
2. ChickenTender is a marketplace
Buyers and sellers are responsible for their transactions, including pickup, shipping, animal health, and the accuracy of listings. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, health, breed, or sex of any animal or egg listed.
3. In-app payments and transaction fees
- Sellers must connect a bank account through our payment processor, Stripe, before posting listings. Sellers agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and must provide accurate identity and banking information.
- After agreeing on terms, a seller may send a payment request in chat, and the buyer pays it in the app. The minimum payment request is $10.
- ChickenTender charges sellers a transaction fee of 5% of each payment, or 3% for Homesteader members. The fee is deducted automatically, and the rest is paid out to the seller's bank account on Stripe's payout schedule. Buyers pay no fee.
- The fee rate is set by the seller's membership plan when the payment request is sent.
- Refunds are arranged between buyer and seller; contact us if you need help. If a payment is refunded or successfully disputed, the payout to the seller may be reversed. We may also refund our transaction fee at our discretion.
- Do not use ChickenTender to find a buyer or seller and then complete the sale off the platform to avoid the transaction fee.
4. Seller responsibilities
- List only birds and hatching eggs you own and have the right to sell.
- Describe breed, age, quantity, health, and condition honestly, and use your own photos.
- Follow all applicable laws, including state and federal rules on poultry sales, NPIP testing, and interstate or mail shipment of live birds and eggs.
- Upload only genuine, current NPIP certification. Falsified documents will result in removal.
5. Prohibited conduct
You may not:
- List animals other than poultry, or any illegal, sick, or misrepresented animal.
- Post anything fraudulent, misleading, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or violent.
- Use the service to promote animal fighting or cruelty.
- Spam, scam, or impersonate others, or misuse other users' information.
- Interfere with, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service.
6. Memberships and billing
- Posting listings requires a paid plan: Hatchling ($2.99/month, up to 10 listings per month) or Homesteader ($4.99/month, unlimited listings plus additional features).
- Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime from Profile → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep your features until then.
- Except where required by law, membership payments are non-refundable.
- We may change prices with advance notice. Changes apply starting with your next billing period.
7. Your content
You own the content you post. By posting it, you grant ChickenTender a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it as needed to operate and promote the service. You're responsible for making sure you have the rights to what you post.
8. Moderation and termination
We may remove content, hide listings, or suspend or ban accounts that violate these terms or that we believe put other users or animals at risk. You can delete your account at any time from the app.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any user, listing, or badge is accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChickenTender is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from transactions or interactions between users. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold ChickenTender harmless from claims arising from your listings, your transactions with other users, or your violation of these terms or the law.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If changes are significant, we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use ChickenTender after changes take effect means you accept them.
